Our Story

Widget Films was founded in 2008 to develop, produce, and finance genre films.

Focusing predominately on the horror genre, Widget teamed up with Twisted Pictures (SAW) and LightTower Entertainment to produce  The Tortured, staring Erika Christensen, Jesse Metcalfe, and Bill Moseley. The Tortured was acquired by IFC Films.

Our company's next venture was Mother's Day, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and staring Rebecca De Mornay, Jamie King, Deborah Ann Woll, and Frank Grillo. The film premiered at the Stiges Film Festival as the closing night film. Mother's Day also showed at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX. The film was distributed world wide, with a large theatrical showing in Europe. It was distributed domestically by Anchor Bay Films.

Widget's next film was the drama 96 Minutes, starring Brittany Snow, David Oyelowo, and Evan Ross. The film premiered at South By Southwest and was distributed by ARC Entertainment.

Widget also has invested in a slate of Broadway plays.

Currently, Widget is in development on several genre and period films, while actively seeking further financing opportunities.
